The group exhibition Between Stars and Signals traces the development of navigation, which in turn reflects the transition of our worldview – from a spiritual, intuitive connection to the environment towards conceptions relying on data-driven, technological control. It engages with the topic of physical movement through space and time along with its philosophical and social implications.
In this context the listening session by vocalist, performer and artist Rupert Enticknap takes us on exploration of the voice as one of our most intimate navigation systems. How do our voices communicate both where and who we are? Through live song, field recordings, phone calls, and musical archives it proposes a sonic journey into how the voice connects us to both the earth, the sky and each other. Spanning from sea shanties & early baroque songs to the moon, to John Cage and Rupert’s own walking score and compositions, it becomes an invitation to become lost within and through sound.
Rupert Enticknap is an artist and musician using voice, sound, performance and sculpture, often working through the body towards non-linear paths of inquiry and performativity. Their trans-disciplinary practice oscillates between and within music, choreographies and installations. Recent works have been shown at DYSTOPIA Sound Art Biennial 2024, Köthener Bachfesttage, Bärenzwinger Berlin, as well as invitations to residencies at Sound Art Lab Denmark and Skogen Gothenburg. They host the show Celestial Bodies on Cashmere Radio.
