Have you come across a barrier on our website?
For example:
- Navigation using the Tab key isn’t working.
- The colour contrast isn’t high enough.
- Some text is difficult to understand.

This accessibility statement applies to the Kunsthaus Hamburg website published at www.kunsthaushamburg.de.
1. Current status of compliance with the requirements
The accessibility requirements are set out in Section 1 of the HmbBITVO, in conjunction with Section 3(1) to (4) and Section 4 of the Federal BITV, which was enacted on the basis of Section 11 of the HmbBGG.
We are committed to gradually improving the digital accessibility of the website.
2. Non-accessible content
At present, the following content and features in particular may not be fully accessible:
- PDF documents and older publications
- Images and media elements without complete alternative text
- Embedded audio and video content without complete subtitles or audio descriptions
- Possible limitations when using a keyboard (depending on the browser)
- Third-party content and functions (e.g. ticketing or booking systems)
3. Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 15 May 2026. Compliance with the requirements has been verified through a self-assessment.
4. Mediation procedure
If you continue to experience problems for which we have been unable to find a satisfactory solution, you may contact the mediation body under Section 13a of the Hamburg Administrative Court Act (HmbBGG). This body is designed to facilitate out-of-court dispute resolution in cases of conflict regarding accessibility between people with disabilities and public authorities. The mediation procedure is free of charge. There is no need to engage legal counsel.
At present, the Ombudsman’s Office of the Hamburg Senate Chancellery is carrying out the duties of the Conciliation Board, which is yet to be established.
