Foyer & café

Panorama, Photo: Sarah Thielsen
The entrance area of the Kunsthaus is conceived as an open space for encounters and events. Visitors are kindly invited to spend time here – whether it be before or after visiting the exhibition, to meet with friends or to work. A small library invites visitors to delve deeper into exhibition topics or read through art magazines and catalogues. Cold drinks and coffee from our Tranquillo portafilter machine are available at the bar. We as a team also regularly use the foyer for meetings, short breaks or informal get-togethers. Come by and say hi!
In addition, we have established various formats to anchor the foyer’s role as a discursive gathering place within the city. On the first Thursday of the month, the foyer hosts an ongoing musical series curated by Nguyen Phuong-Dan called Panorama. It also accommodates the Stille Post project, a rotating exhibition format for which the exhibiting artists determine the curatorial selection themselves. An overview of the current programme can be found here.
Shop

We offer recommended reads on the themes of our current exhibition in collaboration with the bookshop Buchhandlung im Schanzenviertel, artists’ books from THE BOOKS THE BOOKS, the well-known Flugschriften on socio-political issues from Edition Nautilus, theory from Textem Verlag as well as our own publications and editions.
Exclusively available from the shop is the Kunsthaus bag, designed by Laurens Bauer and Caspar Reuss and created by LOQI.
