The Mediated Plant
Lecture by Teresa Castro
Lecture by Teresa Castro

In her current research, film scholar Teresa Castro describes the development of a new perspective on the plant world in the 20th century, which was largely guided by technical media and investigation methods. In doing so, she attempts to reevaluate man's anthroprocentric claim to dominance over nature and develops future perspectives.
Teresa Castro is Associate Professor in Film Studies at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle. She was a post-doctoral researcher at the Musée du quai Branly, Paris and at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin. A significant part of her recent research focuses on eco-criticism, ecofeminism and vegetal life forms in visual culture.
