Music, drinks and free admission every first Thursday of the month

The doors of the Kunsthaus stay open longer on the first Thursday of every month for the Panorama event series. From 6 pm, the foyer of the institution becomes a stage for a changing music programme conceived by Nguyen Phuong-Dan.

For the August issue of, Nguyen Phuong-Dan has invited the musician jinO.o, who was born in Korea and raised in Germany. His work combines experimental textures with guitar-based songwriting. Being part of the Hamburg scene, he moves between noise, ambient and intimate, melody-driven songs. jinO.o’s debut EP too fool for school (2024) reflects his ongoing quest to find new ways of combining sound design and songwriting. The concert will be accompanied by a DJ set by Charlie Spiegelfeld. She is an artist, curator and member of the HALLO:Radio collective. In her sets, she likes to mix songs with drums, wind instruments and spoken word.

The event will also feature the opening of the next round of Whisper Donw the Lane. Admission to Melike Kara’s exhibition Whispers is free throughout the evening. Cold drinks will be served at the bar.

Thanks to the formats established since 2024, the foyer of the Kunsthaus Hamburg is increasingly developing into an open space for people to come together. The programme emphasises the role of the Kunsthaus as a spatial and discursive hub within the city and at the same time ties in with the early years of the institution, which was founded in 1962 on the initiative of regional artists. In the original building of the Kunsthaus, which was once located at Ferdinandstor, the in-house restaurant Panorama with a view of the Inner Alster Lake offered a place for visitors to rest and socialize. The title Panorama not only refers to the spatial aspect, but also to the width of the visual and auditory field of perception as well as to a diverse spectrum of artistic perspectives.
