The term Queer Curating gathers ideas and demands for new ways of contemporary exhibition practice that aim to focus on diverse perspectives, identities and experiences of marginalised groups. It is about questioning traditional exhibition concepts and practices and destabilising their underlying hegemonic hierarchies in an activist act of disruption. Furthermore, queer curating uses the exhibition space as an inclusive and diverse site for dialogue, discussion and social interaction to integrate art into a broader social and political context. What do such queer curating practices look like in concrete terms? We want to talk about this with art and culture makers, theorists and curators.
POSITION. Forum und Ausstellung is a series of events organised by the Professional Association of Visual Artists Hamburg (BBK). It offers panel discussions on cultural-political topics with reference to the visual arts, curated by Carsten Rabe and Madeleine Lauw.
