Andere Verhältnisse – Jahresausstellung des Berufsverbands bildender Künstler*innen

The starting point for the annual exhibition, initiated by the Professional Association of Visual Artists, is Ernst Bloch’s (1885–1977) “concrete utopia.” The German philosopher understood utopia not merely as a fantasy detached from reality, but as part of the here and now. Art plays a special role in his theory: it makes the unfulfilled visible, expresses alternative visions, and can thus set processes of change in motion.

Building on this, the group exhibition “Other Conditions” opens up spaces for association aimed at reshaping reality and encourages viewers to adopt new perspectives. The 17 selected works address pressing contemporary issues of social coexistence and humanity’s relationship to its environment. Using various artistic media, they challenge conventions and explore visions of society’s future.
