Alter-Reservoir / While We're Gone

The exhibitions While We're Gone by Jakob Spengemann and Akinori Tao as well as Alter-Reservoir by Sam Vernon both deal with ongoing loss of useable space for many art and culture professionals in Hamburg. The focus lies on the motif of the move, an issue that the Kunsthaus also faces. Long-pending renovation work on the building and the expansion of the neighboring concert hall , have necessitated a change of location in the near future. Jakob Spengemann, Akinori Tao and Sam Vernon reflect on this state of limbo, addressing among others aspects of temporality, uncertainty, the history of the place or the transmission of knowledge through images and ephemera.
