As one of about 40 exhibition venues in the city, the Kunsthaus Hamburg is inviting visitors to experience Cordula Ditz’s new work They Speak to Us in Dreams free of charge on Reformation Day. The fairytale-like animation produced by the Hamburg artist using AI image generators revolves around the invisibility of women in art history. Popcorn and cold drinks will be sold at the bar.

At a workshop station in the foyer, visitors are invited to get creative and design cookery book pages with their favourite family recipes from 12 to 5 pm. The dishes will be compiled in a collective book, which will be made available in the Kunsthaus library and online afterwards.

The workshop is the prelude to the performance Cooking with Mama by the Kurdish-Iraqi artist Hiwa K, which will take place in various public spaces as part of the upcoming exhibition Politics of Love. Preparing meals is something seemingly simple and commonplace. At the same time, it opens up a field of meanings and values, within which questions about family, origin and elective affinity can arise. Recipes encourage storytelling and remembrance and thus enable people to enter into dialogue with each other. For his performances, the artist invites people with a history of migration to cook their favourite dishes together with friends and relatives in front of an audience via video call. To this end, he has developed a bike that is reminiscent of street stalls in Iraq and Syria. The bike will be on display in the foyer of the Kunsthaus during #seeforfree.
