Melike Kara’s solo exhibition Whispers is presented as part of the 9th Triennial of Photography Hamburg. It conceives photography not as a static image, but as a circulating, ever-changing medium of memory, identity and transformation. For the Kunsthaus Hamburg, the artist created a large-scale installation in which, for the first time, she burned photographs from her own archive and, once turned into ash, integrated them into the space. What remains are traces – fragments of images eluding fixation.
To celebrate the opening of her exhibition, Cologne-based singer, producer, cellist and interdisciplinary artist Jeannel performed at the Kunsthaus Hamburg. Her work transcends the boundaries between avant-garde, songwriting and shamanic practice. Between and after her concerts, Sofía Catalán was playing; she is an artist, DJ and resident at Radio 80000, Munich.
In the context of the opening weekend of the Triennial, artist Toni Ehrhardt presented a performance that approaches archaeology and history as fluid, inherently speculative narratives. He weaved together scientific insights into animal communication with the imagination of a prehistoric civilization, thereby questioning established hierarchies between humans and animals.
