As part of the exhibition Over Land and Sea , the Kunsthaus Hamburg invites visitors to alternative harbour tours organized by the Hafengruppe Hamburg. On three Thursdays a month, the group offers thematically changing boat trips that take a critical look at Europe’s third-largest harbour.

Both nationally and internationally, the Port of Hamburg is an important energy platform in terms of infrastructure. It is home to parts of the strategic oil reserve, the largest refinery for agrofuels in Germany, the country’s largest coal port and the Moorburg coal-fired power plant. The tour organized together with the anti-nuclear office Hamburg Hafenrundfahrt „Gegen den Strom!” – Eine energiepolitische Hafenrundfahrt enables participants to discover various aspects of this infrastructure.

Visitors to the Kunsthaus can take part in a round trip at a reduced price with their exhibition ticket. Conversely, participants on a harbour tour receive reduced admission of €4 to the exhibition with their ticket.
