For the finissage of the exhibition Dance, Dance, Revolution, Kunsthaus Hamburg presents the video work Dedicated to the Youth of the World II & III by Roman Khimei and Yarema Malaschuk in cooperation with the techno club Fundbureau: the installation will be shown as a large-format two-channel projection in the club’s new premises on Altländerstraße in the immediate vicinity of Kunsthaus. It will be accompanied by a talk on the state of the electronic music scene in Ukraine and subsequent DJ sets by the collective ER3ATZ, which, since the start of the Russian full-scale invasion, has been organizing solidarity parties in Hamburg to support volunteer initiatives in Ukraine.
The programme begins at Kunsthaus Hamburg at 4 pm with a guided tour of the exhibition by the curator Anna Nowak and leads to Fundbureau. There, ER3ATZ co-founder Natalya Stupka will talk to cultural manager and music curator Nataliia Martynenko about her memories of the Схема raves portrayed in Dedicated to the Youth of the World II & III, the changes in the Ukrainian electronic music scene as wells its practices of (trans)local solidarity and resistance against the backdrop of the Russian invasion.
Following the talk, the DJs High Hibiscus and Isadore from the ER3ATZ collective will be mixing carefully selected sounds until 10 pm. The proceeds from the event will go to the Solidarity Collectives grassroots initiative and Lena Samojlenko, a volunteer who provides medical support in Ukrainian regions near the front line.
Nataliia Martynenko is a Berlin-based cultural manager, music curator and radio presenter from Kyiv, UKR. She currently works as a coordinator of the Ukrainian-German project Culture Helps to support the Ukrainian cultural sector locally and in exile, as well as within independent projects to research and promote Ukrainian electronic music.
Natalya Stupka is a Hamburg-based cultural manager and aspiring art historian from Lviv, UKR. She is a co-founder of the collective ER3ATZ and works in the field of culture promotion. Her independent projects focus on topics lying between art and political-activist practices.
Isadore, the DJ project of Rostock-based Ophrys Primpieds, is a combination of ecstatic dance music with house origins and liberating sounds, inspired by formative encounters in Rostock, Hamburg, Lyon and Paris.
High Hibiscus is the solo project by music producer and DJ Oleksandr Yarosevych from Kyiv, UKR, who has lived in Hamburg since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. While he stays true to soft, melodic sounds in his music, his eclectic DJ sets focus on techno, breakbeats and acid.
ER3ATZ is an international music collective from Hamburg. In addition to classic techno/house influences, the sets of the collective’s members are characterized by breaks, bass and acid influences. Since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion, the proceeds from the ER3ATZ solo parties have been used to support grassroots initiatives in Ukraine.
Solidarity Collectives is a left-wing, anti-authoritarian volunteer network that unites various grassroots initiatives. The collective supports the resistance movement in Ukraine and people affected by the Russian invasion.
Lena Samojlenko is a volunteer who provides necessary medical assistance and care near the frontline in the Kherson region for elderly people with and without disabilities and others who are unable to leave the country.
