Thursday, 2 October 2025, 6 pm
Music, drinks and free admission every first Thursday of the month
The doors of the Kunsthaus stay open longer on the first Thursday of every month for the Panorama event series. From 6 pm, the foyer of the institution becomes a stage for a changing music programme conceived by Nguyen Phuong-Dan. This time, fngr fuia, consisting of artists Sophia Leitenmayer and Junya Fujita, will present an improvised sound performance, combining wind instrument techniques, voices and analogue instruments with electronic feedback to create strange, shifting soundscapes. Before and after, the duo CHO ROOM, consisting of sisters Laurel and Naomie Chokoago, who specialise in Black electronic music, will play a listening DJ set. Laurel Chokoago’s installation Proverbs will also be on display as part of the experimental exhibition format Stille Post. The solo exhibition Utopia – Dystopia by Nicholas Odhiambo Mboya will be open throughout the evening.
Thanks to the formats established since 2024, the foyer of the Kunsthaus Hamburg is increasingly developing into an open space for people to come together. The programme emphasises the role of the Kunsthaus as a spatial and discursive hub within the city and at the same time ties in with the early years of the institution, which was founded in 1962 on the initiative of regional artists. In the original building of the Kunsthaus, which was once located at Ferdinandstor, the in-house restaurant Panorama with a view of the Inner Alster Lake offered a place for visitors to rest and socialize. The title Panorama not only refers to the spatial aspect, but also to the width of the visual and auditory field of perception as well as to a diverse spectrum of artistic perspectives.
