On the occasion of his exhibition Fictional Healing, Kunsthaus Hamburg cordially invites you to a charity gala with Daniel Hopp, which brings together art and social commitment. Framed by a conceptual dinner, a staged reading, and an exclusive raffle, Daniel Hopp will offer insights into his practice and share his personal perspective on the themes of his installation Fictional Healing. Together with people affected by addiction, the artist developed (docu-)fictional film scenes that challenge stigmatizing narratives associated with addiction and introduce new images of care.

A special guest of the evening will be Berlin-based artist and author Sophia Eisenhut, whose texts have been published by Matthes & Seitz, Spector Books and Merve, among others. At Daniel Hopp’s invitation, she will condense the themes of the exhibition into literary form. The connecting element here is the practice of autofiction: not the objective representation of a life but a process of personal reconstruction. Memories are narrated, reordered and estranged.

The programme will be rounded off by the presentation of a limited edition by Daniel Hopp, which draws on the visual world of Fictional Healing and translates it into autonomous artworks. The highlight of the evening will be the raffle of one of the works — a unique opportunity to take home a piece from the exhibition.

The performative gala highlights the participatory approach of Fictional Healing, actively generating resources for the causes derived from Daniel Hopp’s artistic practice. All proceeds will be donated to Jugendhilfe e. V. As the supporting association of Drob Inn Hamburg, it operates a central facility for people affected by addiction near Hamburg Central Station, in close proximity to the Kunsthaus Hamburg.
