Fire. From the Cosmos to the Commons
21.6.–21.9.2026
The drawings by artist Andrey Klassen open up fantastical worlds inhabited by mythical creatures and cartoon characters. Set in confined spaces and symbolically charged landscapes, his scenes present us with enigmas. Thereby, the relationship between light and darkness plays a central role. For the exhibition in the new project space at Admiralitätstraße 75, he creates site-specific works exploring the theme of fire, while drawing on Plato’s allegory of the cave and the Great Fire of Hamburg of 1842.
In the immediate vicinity, City Curator Joanna Warsza is developing an exhibition and event programme in cooperation with the St. Nikolai Memorial, which will explore how resilience and repair can be re-established and how compassion can be reignited for non-violent coexistence on this planet.
