In the context of three panels accompanied by short keynote speeches, we will talk&nbsp;with cultural actors and decision-makers&nbsp;about the importance of art institutions and culture-integrative urban development for a vibrant society and cultural scene as well as the position of the Kunsthaus Hamburg in the citiy&rsquo;s cultural landscape. In order to facilitate a continuous dialogue, an event of this kind will from now on take place annually at the Kunsthaus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Moderation: <\/strong>Christoph Twickel (Journalist and writer)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Panel I &ndash; On the Significance of Visual Arts in Hamburg<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, times, times new roman, serif;\">With its institutions, galleries, off-spaces and the&nbsp;University of Fine Arts, the city of Hamburg has a diverse&nbsp;art scene with a long&nbsp;tradition. <\/span>However, for many artists,&nbsp;the city is not attractive as a place to live and work in the long term. Agai<span style=\"font-family: georgia, times, times new roman, serif;\">nst this backdrop, we want to ask what distinguishes Hamburg as an art location historically and currently&nbsp;and how structures can be expanded sustainably and beyond the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><u>Impulse (5&ndash;10 min):<\/u> Sven Christian Schuch (Artistic Director spce | Muthesius, Kiel)<\/p>\n<p><u>Talking about challenges and opportunities:<\/u> Melike Bilir (Gallerist&nbsp;and Artistic Director Hajusom e.V.),&nbsp;Martin K&ouml;ttering (President&nbsp;HFBK Hamburg), Bianca M&uuml;llner (Artist and&nbsp;former board member BBK Hamburg) and&nbsp;Inga Wellmann (Head of the Department of Art, Literature and Creative Industries, Ministry of Culture and Media)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Panel II &ndash; Culture-integrative Urban Development<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In view of the continuing loss of available&nbsp;space for many art and culture professionals, the panel will examine the current urban development in Hamburg with regard to cultural policy. The focus will be on the question of how culture can open up and secure spaces in order to shape the city in a just way, in line with common welfare and&nbsp;beyond profit orientation. Our central task has been to provide an inviting, open and globally networking platform for them. Originally located in its own building, the Kunsthaus moved to its current location on Klosterwall after the former was demolished in 1993. Another move is planned for the next few years.
